I'm Clémence, a native French teacher and the founder of Learn French With Clémence.
Born and raised in France, I didn't grow up bilingual. I learned English as a teenager, completely from scratch, without a single native speaker around me. I know exactly what it feels like to study hard, understand a language on paper, and then freeze the second someone expects you to speak it.
That experience stayed with me and shapes the way I teach today.
Why I Created Learn French With Clémence
When I started learning English at 14, I was determined. I knew that speaking another language could open doors and change my life. So I did what most learners do: I searched everywhere. YouTube videos, apps, blogs, podcasts, endless free lessons online.
At first, it felt exciting. Then it became overwhelming. There was so much information and no clear direction. I never knew what to focus on next or how all the pieces fit together.
Everything changed when I enrolled in a structured course. Suddenly, there was a roadmap. Every lesson had a purpose. Each step built on the last. For the first time, I could feel myself making real progress instead of simply collecting random facts.
That's the exact experience I wanted to create for French learners.
